Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the #SupportBlue campaign?

#SupportBlue’s mission is simple: to recognize and show support for our brothers and sisters in law enforcement who put their lives on the line for us each and every day to make the community a better, safer place to live.

Who is the campaign sponsor?

This is a campaign by the First Responders Foundation, a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to enhance public safety in our community by providing resources to police officers and firefighters, and to show appreciation for their dedicated service.

Why is it important to participate?

We have many people approach us asking, “How we can help?” Providing support and letting these brave men and women know that we care can make all the difference in the world. First responders have a tough job. And police officers in particular are not only interacting with people during times of tragedy, but also oftentimes when someone is acting at his or her worst. It can be a straining job day in and day out, yet they continue to serve and protect. A simple “thank you” can help keep their spirits strong and help remind them there is purpose behind what they’re doing for us.

How can I help show my support?

The #SupportBlue campaign makes it very easy to say thank you to the officers who serve our community – whether you’re thanking one officer in particular, or sending a thank you to all of the men and women who protect us. Every thank you is appreciated. So take a minute to visit SupportBlueOmaha.com where you can write a note of thanks to share with first responders throughout the community.

You can also show your support online in other simple ways. “Like” our campaign’s Facebook page , share positive comments on our Facebook page and the Omaha Police Department Facebook page, and use #SupportBlue to tag your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts and photos. You can also get your kids involved with our Thumbs Up program.

What happens after I submit my thank you note on the website?

We want to be sure and keep the posts on this page positive and respectful, so we will review all submissions. If the comments follow the guidelines, we will publish them on the webpage.

Do other people see my full name?

Only your first name will be shown with your thank you note.
